Capacity Building

An initiative, launched as part of a collaborative effort within SNU, aimed at supporting individuals engaged in post-war reconstruction efforts. Designed as a practice-oriented activity, it primarily targets displaced professionals, including those who have sought refuge in other countries. It is also open to individuals who have been residing in Switzerland prior to the full-scale invasion, as well as those affiliated with humanitarian organizations committed to rebuilding efforts.

This initiative aims to cultivate future leaders who will drive reconstruction efforts, emphasizing principles of sustainable and resilient rebuilding. Drawing on expertise from diverse sectors, including business, academia, research, and public institutions, it offers a comprehensive framework addressing the complex challenges of post-war recovery.

Participants gain knowledge in sustainability practices, circular economy principles, and energy-efficient rebuilding strategies. The activity includes methodologies for assessing structural damage, innovative approaches to reusing debris, and best practices in contemporary construction and architectural design. Special emphasis is placed on forward-thinking concepts such as smart villages and smart cities.

A distinguishing feature of this initiative is its collaborative approach, enabling participants to co-design real-world rebuilding projects with the support of experts from various disciplines. These projects are developed in cooperation with both local and international stakeholders, fostering a strong professional network dedicated to post-conflict recovery. The activity has also served as a platform for showcasing reconstruction initiatives, bringing together key actors to contribute to sustainable and innovative rebuilding efforts.
